High Friction Surfacing treatment

High Friction, High Performance, High Quality Surfacing!

High Friction Surfacing (HFS), known also as Anti-Skid, offers the highest level of skid resistance onto any surface improving safety and demarcating specific areas.

COLAS Contracting hold PrTrait approval for installing both cold and hot applied HFS on National routes.

Only contractors with this certification are permitted on the national network. Clients include City and County Councils, TII, PPP Operators MMaRC networks and private customers.

Buff coloured thermoplastic

The surface shall be clean, dry and free from dust, laitance and foreign matter.

It is laid in a single layer and contains calcined bauxite aggregate throughout its depth, (usually 3/5mm, ensuring that new calcined bauxite is exposed as the surface wears). This product can be applied all year round onto new and old surfaces.

Coloured thermoplastic is laid at a temperature of 180 / 200°C and has an instant bond to the surface through heat transfer to the underlying surface.
